The best part about wood projects is they suck up the mess from the oil projects. Goal of this project was:
- Build garbage storage so i don’t have to store smelly garbage in the garage, since I like organize it with the right accessories.
- Use up all my odd cuts of wood, half used tubes of caulking and my 4 and 5 year old cans of paint.
- Clean up the oil mess from the Santa Fe Engine swap.
- Do this as cheaply as possible … Scottish cheap 😀
The base is made from a small wood pallet. The 2×4’s came from what I had lying around and the 75% pile of bendy wood at Lowes. Plywood was also recycled from pallets and construction sites. Everything is painted including the underside of the pallet base … I should get atleast a couple years out of it.
I really encourage you to try to do this easy project, I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to learn about waste management did you know that thousands of years ago humans simply dug a hole and buried their refuse and waste. This was an effective technique for these early people because their population was relatively small and they did not produce waste on the same scale or with the levels of complexity that modern humans do. Burying the rubbish helped to prevent bugs and rodents from becoming a nuisance and spreading diseases; however, that not the case anymore because it is not a sustainable option. For those of you who don’t know, the most important reason for waste collection is the protection of the environment and the health of the population, even if you don’t DIY your dumpster you can always buy your own, or contact companies like Jim’s Skip Bins where you can rent dumpsters from.
In totally I spent about $25 in wood and deck screws, after what decided to call commercial roofers and made everything right. For example, Fusion Exteriors has a wide selection of roofing services for you.
